Connecting to your TermiSoc E-mail using a mail client

From TermiSoc: A WikiHistory
Jump to: navigation, search

You can understand that not everyone likes using webmail to do all their e-mail duty - some people prefer to a more flexible e-mail client. (An e-mail client, in case you're confused is a program for recieving e-mails (for example: Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, mutt, Pine, etc.))

To connect your e-mail program to our mail server is an easy and (relatively) painless process. Also, it puts you in greater control of your mail, and means it's quicker and easier to sort and read your mail.

We'll be running through the two most popular clients - Outlook Express and Thunderbird.

When it asks you for an Outgoing Mail Server, use the following settings:

  2. Port: 25 (which should be the default)
  3. Use Username and Password: Yes - user name is your TermiSoc user name.

...and you're done!

Security Note

We recommend that whatever mail client you use, you use a secure connection (look for TLS/SSL options), which will make sure your password and all other data are encrypted. We don't support "secure authentication", however, but this is unnecessary with a secure connection.
